Ilie joins Lausanne on loan

Romanian attacking midfielder Rareș Ilie has been loaned out to FC Lausanne-Sport without an option to buy.

Having joined Maccabi Tel Aviv on loan in January 2023, the 20-year-old is set to move to his third different country in the space of a year. Following spells in France and Israel, the playmaker will continue his development in Switzerland for a season, joining newly-promoted top-flight side FC Lausanne-Sport.

This loan deal marks the continuation of the positive synergy between Le Gym and LS, both INEOS-owned clubs, with this synergy aiming to boost performances and develop INEOS's clubs' players.

After signing for Nice last summer, the Romanian under-21 international, who came through the ranks at Rapid București, showed his technical quality in the first few games of the campaign, making eight appearances (including five starts) and most notably taking part in the two-legged win over Maccabi Tel Aviv in the UEFA Europa Conference League play-off round (0-1 in the first leg, 2-0 in the second leg AET).

In order to earn more game time, Ilie in fact joined Maccabi for a six-month stint in the second half of the season, playing nine matches and providing one assist.

OGC Nice would like to wish Rareș the best of luck for the upcoming season with Lausanne!
