New centre

An inauguration with great pomp

OGC Nice’s new training and academy centre was officially inaugurated on Thursday. With great pomp and for eternity.

Minister, mayor, regional Council leader, from the Gym, the LFP, former club president, coach, staff, players, partners, representatives of supporter groups, journalists… The meeting time was set at 5pm. In the softness of an autumn evening, everybody honoured it with fervour. Coming from the four corners of the country, but with the majority coming from the most beautiful city in the world, all the components of the Red and Black microcosm and from the sporting world visited the Aiglons’ new home. Everybody came along without denying themselves of the pleasure, aware that they were experiencing a historic moment for the club.

Very quickly, in front of more than 200 guests, the Sports Minister, Laura Flessel, symbolically cut the ribbon marking the arrival of the Aiglons into their new home. A burst of applause welcomed the act completed by the double Olympic fencing champion, who hasn’t lost any of her precision.

After being taken on a tour by the owner, the defining moment of the day way undoubtedly its epilogue, on the terrace. At the lectern, “the wasp”, who entered into government this summer, had a huge smile. Ange Ferracci (President of the Association) wished a long future for the club and city, Nathalie Boy de la Tour (President of the LFP) saluted “the path of OGC Nice under the presidency of Jean-Pierre Rivère”, Christian Estrosi the bases “of a solid football focussed on the future”

The last person to speak, Jean-Pierre Rivère thanked all of those involved for the “the great work completed” and specified that the Gym, from now on, have “all of the tools to become even more efficient.”

After the official speeches, the atmosphere warmed up even more. The Gym’s President and the Mayor of Nice took part in an game of pétanque, the guests had a drink and some canapés, posed for photos, and stroked Mèfi...

Before the sun set on the “heart of the Red and Black reactor”…
