Your highlights from the first three months
On Wednesday night, we asked a simple question on the club's official Facebook page : what have your highlights been from the first three months of season 2016-2017 ? As usual, you responded to the call and played the game with precision. Check out the trends gleaned from your responses.
Off the pitch
The homages paid off the pitch evidently touched you all, and looking back, it's overwhelming how omnipresent they have been in your hearts. Among the most notable in the early weeks of the season : « The loss of René… without him, Le Gym would currently be in obscurity. Thank you René » wrote Julien Alessandrini, illustrating the devastation that the people of Nice felt when René Marsiglia passed away. Just like the pain that struck Nice's heart when 86 people were killed on July 14 - 86 people to whom this tribute was paid at the beginning of the season, at the match against Rennes « RIP to all those who were taken from us. Forza Nissa ».
On the pitch
In sporting terms, the Aiglons have racked up a better-than-positive record in the league (nine wins, two draws and one defeat) and sit in top spot after 12 rounds. The enjoyment that the players evidently experience when on the pitch together has proven infectious, as there were many of you who underlined the quality of the Gym's play so far this season : « the best football in France, along with that of Monaco », wrote Guy Adriano. Some of you also cited some exciting moments, mainly from the two derbies played against Monaco and Marseille. « Balotelli's first goal after just seven minutes against OM » according to Jo l'Ziin ; « Cyprien's strike in the 87th minute was pure joy » declared Issa Nissa Sieu Nissart. « Beautiful football, Monaco and frame of mind » summarised Dylan Ratinaud. Your only sporting regret for the opening stage of the season concerned Europe, and more specifically « the home leg against Salzburg ».
« What more could you ask for ? » wondered Quentin Monteiro after enumerating a long list of things to be happy about. « I hope they keep thrilling us for a long time to come » offered Georges Miretti with a turn of phrase that serves at once as a concise reply and a conclusion that turns towards what we hope is a glorious future….
Thanks to all the fans for the great response!
