Le Gym and Bodmer decide to go separate ways

A few days ago, OGC Nice and Mathieu Bodmer decided to mutually terminate the player’s contract. Released from the last six months of his contract, the 34-year old will now be free to join the club of his choice.

It is with a mutual respect that the Red and Blacks and the Evreux-born veteran have decided to end their adventure together.

The Club were unable to guarantee the game time that the player desired during the second half of the season and so, the two parties have chosen to end their relationship amicably.

“I want to thank everybody at the club, the players, the numerous coaches and the supporters for the three and a half seasons I have spent here” said Mathieu Bodmer.

Arriving in Nice during the summer of 2013, the former number twenty-four quickly imposed himself as an important member of the squad. In the midst of a difficult time on the pitch, he used his experience and talent in order to keep the Aiglons in the top-flight.

He was then made captain for the 2015/16 season and led the side to a fourth-placed finish in Ligue 1 and securing European under the command of Lucien Favre. During his three and a half seasons on the Côte d’Azur, he featured in 80 league matches and scored 5 goals.

“I hope that Le Gym will secure themselves a spot in the Champions League at the end of the season. I wish everybody the best of luck and thank you all”, concluded the midfielder.

OGC Nice thank Mathieu for his contribution and wish him well for the rest of his career.
