Coach Galtier welcomes "Andy's arrival”

Christophe Galtier spoke about Andy Delort's arrival at the club after the 4-0 win over Bordeaux.

“I was delighted to learn that Andy has joined us officially," said the coach. "I would like to thank both Jim Ratcliffe, the INEOS group and his associates (John Reece and Andy Currie), Jean-Pierre Rivère and Julien Fournier, who worked hard to convince Andy to come to us rather than somewhere else."

Relieved, the Aiglons coach spoke further about the signing. "Andy is joining a team that has become efficient, with players that give me satisfaction. I like to switch up the partnerships and have attacking options throughout the match. I know that Andy can be paired with Amine, with Kasper. Amine on one side? No. Except maybe in some games. It's always interesting to have different profiles in the forward areas. But in theory, I'll have three strikers: Amine, Kasper, Andy. And also young Evann (Guessand) who will join us when he is ready. When you play with four strikers, it's important to have numbers, quality, and different types of players to try to perform as well as possible throughout the match."

He then spoke of the ins and out of Delort's arrival, "It all started a few days ago. After a long discussion with Julien (Fournier, director of football), we thought it wasn't possible, as Andy was talking to other clubs. We thought he would choose another proposal. Then we showed him our vision of things, with these players and what he could bring to this team and this squad, with his knowledge of L1, his temperament, his ability to score, to provide a lot of decisive passes. We spoke with him, as did others. The presence of the INEOS group meant that we could get this deal done. Others couldn't."
