Training

First contact

300 supporters enjoyed a special day at the OGC Nice training centre on Wednesday morning. These passionate fans weren’t about to miss out on the first training session open to the public since March 2020 and the second taken by new Gym coach Christophe Galtier.

15 months on, the Rouge et Noir family has been reunited. On Wednesday morning, the first supporters arrived at the OGC Nice training centre at 9am. They were all impatient for the day after so long without having been able to share the daily life of Les Aiglons: "We followed the saga of signing Christophe Galtier and we wanted to welcome him," said Matteo. At 10am, the new coach, accompanied by the players and his new coaching staff, took to the field. The morning's programme included an hour and a half of training to the cheers of 300 supporters decked out in flags and gathered around an official OGC Nice shop set up for the occasion, as well as a refreshment stand to cool off in the hot Côte d'Azur sun.

"It's an incredible pleasure to be here," smiled Kevin and Lois, 28 and 14 years old. "We came to see the players and the atmosphere. We're also happy to see Dante back in training, we can see that he's in good shape and that he wants to help the squad." Back on the pitch, the Brazilian captain was warmly welcomed. Theo and Lena, aged 15 and 17, were delighted to see Amine Gouiri and Jean-Clair Todibo: "We'd never had the chance to see them before" after a season without public training and the passion of the supporters at Allianz Riviera.

"We can feel that he is determined and sure of himself," commented Kevin and Loïs, while José appreciated "his sincerity and his proximity to the supporters. In his first meeting with them - who all appreciated the message the coach sent to the fans in his press conference - the new coach of Nice is very vocal. On the pitch with the players, he bellows instructions. The fans like it and they like the personality displayed by this "passionate man, who will get on very well with the club's supporters" smiled Gilles. The older fans also had a word for assistant coach Thierry Oleksiak, the former defender who spent three seasons at the club in the late 1980s.

All of them were able to stay for the entire training session. After this reunion and this first contact of the summer, the whole Rouge et Noir family is now looking forward to seeing each other again very soon at the Allianz Riviera.
