Season review 2020-21

Playing time: squad review

Just a few days after the end of the 2020-21 season, it’s time to look back over the season that was. First up: we take a look at Les Aiglons’ playing time.

34 players used

Over the course of the season, 34 players were used by Patrick Vieira and then Adrian Ursea. Of them, ten were graduates of the club’s very own youth academy: Yoan Cardinale, Andy Pelmard, Malik Sellouki, Théo Pionnier, Noah Crétier, Salim Ben Seghir; Hicham Mahou and Evann Guessand, loaned to Lausanne; and Patrick Burner and Eddy Sylvestre, who left the club early in the campaign.

The youngest player to appear was Salim Ben Seghir, born in 2003 and given his Ligue 1 debut on 29 November against Dijon.

The most experienced, obviously, was 37-year-old Dante.

Benitez leads the way

Of the 34 players, there is a clear leader: Walter Benitez. Like last season, the Argentinian was the player that played the most. Les Aiglons’ ‘keeper played every minute of the 38 Ligue 1 matches for a total of 3,240 minutes. To that figure you can also add five Europa League (450 minutes) and 2 Coupe de France (180) matches, for a grand total of 4,050 minutes. This term, the last line of defence missed just one game, against Hapoël Beer Sheva, where Cardi’ wore the gloves.

Of the outfield players, the most used was Hassane Kamara. The left-back played 2,966 minutes in Ligue 1, and 3,381 in all competitions.

Amine Gouiri completed the top three with 2,752 minutes in Ligue 1 and 3,302 minutes in all competitions.
