Stay strong Alexis

Last week Adrian Ursea was fearful of any “nasty surprises” in the final two games of a dark season in which the Gym haven’t been lucky with injuries. This Sunday, against Strasbourg (0-2), lightning struck once more and hit the man in form for the Rouge et Noir. And as always in this kind of situation the human side of it is more important than the sportsman.

In the 36th minute as he was getting into his stride Alexis Claude-Maurice stayed down after a Thomasson tackle. A strong challenge that put the Aiglons midfielder off balance. At the heart of the pitch, his teammates quickly realised that his fall wasn’t a usual one. And it was confirmed by the medical team causing him to be stretchered off.

“My thoughts are with Alexis, said Adrian Ursea in the press conference. That’s what worries me after the game. I hope it’s not too bad for him. We’ve had a real tough time with injuries this season. I hope it’s not a bad one. We don’t know anything yet, apart from. How he was feeling: he feels like it’s bad. It might be the ankle or the fibula. We’ll know more tomorrow with the more in-depth tests”
