The good run that started in Rennes at the end of February came to an end at the Stade Gaston-Gérard against the side bottom of Ligue 1 against whom the Aiglons had already lost this season. Under pressure at the start of both halves the Niçois without Gouiri and Thuram at kick off – both with calf injuries – fell behind with a nice strike from Chafik early in the second period (1-0, 50’).

They tried to fight back through Dolberg whose effort at the front post was turned away by Allagbe’s left hand. Then with some fresh legs, because Adrian Ursea sent on Atal, Boudaoui and Nsoki in the 64’ in place of Rony Lopes, Lees-Melou and Kamara without drifting away from the 4-3-3 formation. But despite dominating possession and having multiple set pieces, the Gym never really endangered Dijon because of too many technical mistakes. 15 minutes from the end it was actually Dijon who doubled their lead thanks to a Benzia penalty won by Dobre after a cross deflected by Saliba’s arm (2-0, 76’).

After that, Nice tried to push forward but without any real success. A few chances came in the first half through Myziane, Lotomba and Rony Lopes but not enough to hope for better from the trip to Dijon.
