Ursea: "We weren't able to do what we needed to"

Adrian Ursea spoke to the press after the draw between Nice and Reims (0-0).

What did you make of the match?

It's was a pretty sad match. The positives that I can take from this? That we maintained our unbeaten run and didn't lose. This run is still here and has given us a lot confidence until now. On the other hand, it's a real shame that we weren't able to make the most of it against this strong Reims side. They were able to defend and break down our game. We didn't have many chances, but we did have some that we didn't make the most of.

What was lacking?

A bit of lucidity, speed in our passing, and more than anything some link-up in the final 20 metres of the pitch. We managed to get the ball there, but when we needed some link-up between two or three players, we weren't able to do so. The pass didn't come. These are things that we need to have, but you can't forget where we have come from. You can't forget where we were just a few weeks ago. Honestly, I am pleased by that. Of course, we would have like to win the three points. But the run continues. We will need to prepare well for the match against Dijon from the start of the week.

Was it a missed opportunity to pick up points to catch up with the teams ahead of you?

It's a missed opportunity to take home the 3 points. Quite simply. We are still taking it "match by match", we will see where we are at the end. I don't want to fix objectives. Once again, we can't forget where we have come from. We were in an extremely difficult situation. We see other clubs who were better than us getting dragged into a relegation fight, with terrible pressure. It's something that we no longer have. We want to build something as quickly as possible, because there aren't many matches left to come. But we want to prepare well in order to pick up the next three points.

Do you not want to see your players loosen up slightly?

I don't know how you see things, but I don't feel that the team isn't loosening up. They are trying take control of the game. In terms of possession, we were better than Reims. I don't think that the team is playing with the handbrake on, quite the contrary. But finding very quickly, in a very short space of time, solutions to attack together. We know that it's very difficult to build that link-up play when you come from where we have come, it's difficult. We need a bit of time, the players are committed, we can see that in training. We try to use that as much as possible in the hope that it will translate into the next match. It wasn't the case and you also have to congratulate our opponents for that.

You mention the opponent, what did you make of Reims?

They are a good footballing side, who look to build without making mistakes. They are very strong on the wings, and we suffered because of that in the first 15 minutes. They were very true to what we expected of them. We weren't able to find the link-up and relationship between two or three players in the final 20 metres in order to really put them under pressure.

Should there have been a penalty on Myziane?

I think that there could have been a penalty on Myziane. Even though he didn't want to go down and catch the ball, the truth is that he was knocked off balance. We didn't get the penalty, but if we had got one and converted it, maybe the shape of the game would have changed. It's part of the game. What was very clear this afternoon was that we weren't able to do what we needed to do to trouble this Reims side.
