Credit Agricole Aiglon of the match

A landslide victory for Dolberg

Kasper Dolberg was unsurprisingly named PCA Crédit Agricole Aiglon from the win away at Nantes this Sunday (1-2). By scoring a brace in the first half, the Dane set the Gym up for success. With 83% of votes, he is ahead of Walter Benitez (13%) and Khephren Thuram (4%).

At the stade de la Beaujoire, Dolberg didn’t waste any time before stamping his mark on the game. In the second minute the striker caused danger in the Nantes defence before setting up Claude-Maurice. The ex-Ajax man then hit the back of the net in the 11th minute. After Thuram’s run the Dane tucked home the penalty that was won by his teammate to open up his account for 2021.

Unstoppable the number nine left his marker for dead on multiple occasions. Without the Canaries’ defence (13’) and then Lafont (23’, 26’), Dolberg’s brace would have happened earlier. The Denmark international finished well a couple of minutes later as he wrongfooted the keeper (29’).

One goal from the spot and another from open play he also had a fifth attempt in the first half (36’) that was once more denied by Lafont who had to perform well to stop Dolberg from getting his third. With his fourth brace in Ligue 1, Dolberg then had to do the dirty work in the second period by defending well and holding up the ball well. A great all round performance and two goals that “did him good” as he explained in the post-match press conference.

Decisive Benitez and solid Thuram

Behind the scorer, Walter Benitez finished second (13%). Differently to the striker the Nice keeper was impressive in the second half when the Nantes gave everything to get back into the game.

His save denied Pallois after a free kick in the 75th minute and another stop from Louza sealed the win (86’).

In third is Khephren Thuram who two weeks after a great performance in the derby was impressive once more. Alongside Lees-Melou and Claude-Maurice in midfield the U20 international showed his quality with the ball at his feet and his runs forward. He was involved in both goals: being fouled for the penalty and his shot bouncing back for Dolberg’s second.
