Ursea: ‘We really struggled in the first half’

Here’s Adrian Ursea’s analysis in the post-match press conference of Marseille – Nice (3-2).

Adrian have you got any regrets about tonight’s game?

About the result yes a few. But we were really poor in the first half. We had to chase the game and when that’s the case it becomes a lot harder.

How would you explain the fact that you struggled to find the Gym from the Parc des Princes?

A lot of reasons. But I’ll say it once and for all because I don’t want to be interpreted as an excuse. I think that today for a club like OGC Nice when you have 9 potential starters out it counts for a lot. It shows in the relationships in game and the fluidity of movement within the side.

Why did you decide to start Alexis Trouillet as left winger?

You say left winger but when we had the ball he became a box to box midfielder and I think that with Alexis’ qualities he can do that job well. His last game was in the Coupe de France and he played well. It convinced me to give him his chance because of the absentees.

Did you miss the Todibo – Saliba duo most of all?

Yes. They brought us calmness in defence and going forward. I’ve always said that what happens in the final third depends on how we bring the ball out from the back. Bambu and Stanley haven’t played for a while. They need to find their rhythm and in a game like tonight it’s not easy. Despite that, it’s not just about the centre of defence it’s about the whole side. I’m not here to say it’s any one player’s fault. The whole team were poor in the first half.

At 3-1 did you feel that OM thought it was over?

I don’t think so. I would have liked to have seen what had happened if Amine had score in the 60’, Maybe the game would have completely changed because of what we saw when we made it 3-2 OM worried a lot. We felt that they were doubting themselves.

Have you got an update on Rony Lopes?

I haven’t got an answer yet. I hope it won’t be too serious because losing another player would be a real shame. Myziane? He felt a pain. We decided not to take a risk because of our situation. We need players at 100% and when there is any sort of doubt we can’t take the risk.
