Crédit Agricole Aiglon of the Match: Lees-Melou takes home the title

Pierre Lees-Melou is your Crédit Agricole Aiglon of the Match for the encounter between Lens-Nice, which Les Aiglons won 1-0.  The Nice captain picked up 38% of the vote, ahead of Youcef Atal (33%) and Hicham Boudaoui (13%).

During the week, he called for action to be taken. In the freezing cold of the north of France and on a tricky pitch, Pierre Lees-Melou, who had been absent from the starting 11 since the visit of Dijon (on 29 November), led by example.

With the armband proudly worn, the midfielder was involved in all of the battles. Committed defensively and a key member of the team, he inspired his side by giving that little extra in order to turn a draw into a win. The little extra in question? A ball stolen from the feet of Cahuzac, at the origin of the only goal of the match. On an evening where he was the Aiglon that recovered the highest number of balls (9) and who made the most passes in the opponent’s half (29), his performance was the perfect exemple of a "box to box" midfielder.

Behind the captain, we find the goalscorer: Youcef Atal. Incisive, Le Gym’s right wing-back regularly pushed forward. During the first half, he created the first chance of the match when he won the ball in the box and struck at goal.

An almost carbon copy of his goal, apart from just one detail: For his first effort, Youcef tried to find a way past Leca at his near post, for the second, he curled to the back post. A choice that paid off for the man that shortly after was forced off through injury.

Finally, Hicham Boudaoui takes the final step on the podium. Vital for the balance of the Nice side, the n°28 made tackle after tackle (9) and put everything on the line in order to prevent Lens from attacking.

Starting the match on his own in front of the defence, Boudaoui had “an incredibly good match” as Adrian Ursea commented after the final whistle.
