Coupe de France

To Nîmes for the Round of 64

On Thursday afternoon, the draw for the Round of 64 of the Coupe de France took place. OGC Nice will enter this year’s competition at Nîmes Olympique on 9, 10 or 11 February.

Positioned in Group C of the draw, OGC Nice were pulled out of the bag alongside Nîmes Olympique for the modified Round of 64 of the Coupe de France 2021.

Given the unique circumstances, a unique Coupe de France has been organised. In order to allow the competition to take place in accordance with the current restrictions, the format of the 104th Edition of the Coupe de France was reviewed.

The review sees professional and amateur clubs split into two separate pathways, which will be brought together for the Round of 32. Before that, the 20 Ligue 2 clubs will battle it out in the 8th Round on 19 and 20 January before joining up with the Ligue 1 sides for the Round of 64.

It is from this draw that OGC Nice discovered that they would face Nîmes Olympique. The two sides have already met once this season in Ligue 1. Le Gym came out on top at the Stade des Costières on Matchday 15 thanks to goals from Ndoye and Claude-Maurice (0-2).

If Les Aiglons come out on top, they will head into the Round of 32 alongside the 14 other professional clubs that have wqualified and the 17 amateur sides from the other pathway. The Round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will take place in the usual format and according to a schedule that is still to be established.
