BREST - NICE

« We're fresh and ready to go! »

It was miserable weather for the Aiglons. Two days out from their trip to Brest, the players trained in the rain and just six degrees.

The Rouge et Noir got a taste of what’s to come against Brest as the temperature is meant to be below zero on Wednesday night at the stade  Francis-Le-Blé (-1° at kick off).

It was more of a freezing cold session than a cool one as the training took place on a wet pitch on a rainy day. The session took place behind closed doors apart from the first 15 minutes open to the press. It brings an intense week of preparation at Vaugrenier to an end. We really need that to be honest. Both physically and for the team cohesion », said Amine Gouiri  to the journalists, before the day’s training. That session was in preparation of Wednesday’s game (Matchday 18, kick off at 19:00) with a warm up followed by rondos, tactical work and work in front of goal.

How did the players react to this short time off and the hard work that followed? « I saw a motivated group aware of our potential as a team, said Adrian Ursea. Everyone wants to do the right things. We were able to put the work in and we insisted on that aspect and were happy with those few days. We need to regain confidence and that will come through training. We didn’t have a lot of time before the break. We now want to use that time to work on the details and work on tactical aspects and fix the slight issues we had that lost us points.

« We ended 2020 on a sour note but the break did us some good, concluded Amine Gouiri. We’re fresh and ready to go! »
