2020 in 10 dates

November 1: The captain down and out

A look back at the 10 key dates in OGC Nice's year of 2020

November 1: The 55th minute of the game at Stade Raymond-Kopa in Angers. After a first half they dominated head and shoulders, Nice were trying to finish off SCO and seal the three points. Having set up the first goal for Rony Lopes, Dante headed upfield for another attacking set-piece. Following a contact that didn't look like much, the captain found himself on the ground. All the players understood. The former Bayern Munich player, having a very good start to the season, left the field on a stretcher. The verdict came through quickly: cruciate ligament damage. Commandante soon underwent an operation and then started his rehab.

The whole club supported him, like numerous figures from the football world. Julien Fournier (Director of Football) soon affirmed that the Angers match (finally won 3-0) wouldn't be the Brazilian's last in the Gym shirt, despite the imminence of the end of his contract, due to expire at the end of the season.

On December 18, after short discussions, the Brazilian announced the news himself on social media: he had signed a contract extension. A deal struck based on respect and keeping one's word. The challenge he's going through now is not the end of the adventure, just a block in the road as the journey will continue together.
