2020 in 10 dates

October 29: Horror and victory

A look back at the 10 key dates in OGC Nice's year of 2020

Thursday October 29: Here's a date that we would have loved not to have had to have mentioned. And yet it was one of the most important dates of the year. On awaking, the inhabitants of the most beautiful city in the world were hit by another uppercut to the heart. TVs on, mobile phones full of alerts, horror unfolding live: another terrorist attack had just happened in their city. Four years after the Promenade des Anglais, the wound was reopened, as if in a nightmare. In the basilica of Notre-Dame, right in the city centre, a terrorist claimed the lives of three Niçois. A catastrophe. Another one.

That evening, OGC Nice played their second Europa League match, their first at home.

This time, there was no group therapy to deal with the tragedy: the 22 players performed in front of closed doors, the stands desperately empty, like our minds, at the end of a somber day.

On the pitch, the Aiglons did their job. Though they suffered, they took the win thanks to the inevitable Amine Gouiri (1-0).
