The 1st part of the season under the microscope

While the winter break started after the Aiglons' draw with Lorient on Wednesday December 3 (2-2), the festive period is the chance to put the first part of the Gym's season under the microscope.

6 wins, 4 draws, 6 defeats

After 16 rounds of the Ligue 1 season, the men from the Côte d'Azur have a balanced record of 6 wins, 4 draws and 6 defeats. If the Aiglons have a match in hand (against Marseille, at a date still to be determined), this first assessment comes when the first half of the season hasn't been completed. Unlike in previous seasons, Rounds 18 and 19 will be played in January.

A solid defence away from home

Used to performing well at home, the Gym have been solid away from home this season. In 7 away games, the club have scored 4 wins, 2 draws and just 1 defeat at Montpellier (R3, 3-1). Moreover, the Nice defence has proved particularly hard to breach on the road, conceding only four goals. No club has managed better.

Benitez, at the base of it all

Since the start of the season Walter Benitez is, unsurprisingly, the player who has played the most in all competitions. With 1,890 minutes player, the goalkeeper has missed just one game. At Beer-Sheva, the Argentinian left the role to Yoan Cardinale.

Behind the last line of defence, Jordan Lotomba is the outfield player to have played the most minutes (1,650). The full-back, used on both sides, is ahead of Amine Gouiri (1,605), Morgan Schneiderlin (1,541) and Hassane Kamara (1,488).

Gouiri, the leading scorer…

From Amine Gouiri, the scorer against Lens in Round 1 to Jeff Reine-Adélaïde, who got off the mark against Lorient, 13 Aiglons have found the back of the net since last August. At the head of the list, Gouiri has scored 9 in all competitions, including 6 in the league. The top Nice scorer is also the second highest in the assists table with 3. Only Jeff Reine-Adélaïde has more (4).

… and popular in the voting

After 5 months of competitive play, one man has proved particularly popular with the supporters. While waiting for the results of Aiglon Crédit Agricoloe for December on OGCNICE.COM, Amine Gouiri has already collected the award in August, October and November. In 2020/21, only Walter Benitez, in September, has managed to finish ahead of the former Lyon player in the voting.
