Post-match Angers 0-3 Nice

Thoughts for Dante

Following the victory over Angers (0-3), the coach and members of the OGC Nice squad sent messages of support to their captain, who was forced off the field through injury.

After picking up an assist, Dante was forced to leave the pitch on Sunday, as he fell to the floor at the start of the second half in the Angers box due to a knee injury. "It's too soon to know exactly what he has done" explained Patrick Vieira after the final whistle. When you see him go off on a stretcher, it’s not reassuring and you can only be worried. He is brave, always strong, but the doctor has told us that we need to wait until tomorrow to see the results of the MRI that he needs to have, before we can start to draw any conclusions. This is football, unfortunately."

The coach’s fears were shared by the whole of the squad, as Pierre Lees-Melou, the man who picked up the armband from Dante, explained. "We all went to see him at the end of the match. He is with the doctors, they are giving the initial treatment. We are all worried but we don’t know any more than that and we are waiting for the results. This victory is also for him."
