At Jeff Reine-Adélaïde’s presentation press conference, Patrick Vieira shared his critical appraisal of Le Gym’s newest signing.

Coach, what will Jeff bring to your squad?

He has different qualities to the players we already have. He likes to make things happen, he adds pace to the game. He’s very good one on one. He will bring something new. I’m really happy to have him with us.

Do you know how you are going to use him?

He has a certain versatility which is attractive for a coach. But what is really important for me is to use him in his best position; in central midfield. I think playing in a No.8 role in a three-man midfield could suit him very well.

Jeff is currently captain of the France U21 team. Did you also sign him because of the impact his personality could have on the squad? 

We have players with personality in the squad. But it’s true that he’s a captain and is used to having responsibility. Jeff is not a young player anymore. He has a certain experience thanks to the clubs and national teams he’s played for. He will being his personality, his calm, his confidence, but also his competitive spirit. In general, when you look at ours quad today, we have other players that are in the France U20 and U21 teams, such as Andy Pelmard. It shows that the club is also working for the future.
