Aiglon of the match: Gouiri, again!

You Crédit Agricole Aiglon of the Match for Nice 2-1 Nantes is Amine Gouiri. Directly involved in both goals, the forward received 46.4% of the votes, finishing ahead of Khephren Thuram (23.8%) and Dante (20.5%), the two goal scorers.

Amine Gouiri, again! Like against Bordeaux and like often since the start of the season, the Gym No.11 was once again in fine form. While he didn’t score himself against the Canaries, he was directly involved in the build-up for both his side’s goals. For the first, it was his perfectly struck corner that picked out Dante for the header. For the second, he ran onto Thuram’s first-time pass to drive into the penalty box where anything can happen! While there was no way through for Armine, the ball broke free to Thuram who followed up and netted the winner.

In six Ligue 1 matches, the France U21 international has scored two and provided two assists. Those statistics don’t take into account his deflected assist for Dolberg against Strasbourg, nor his excellent overall play.

Scorer of the winning goal on the hour mark, Khephren Thuram takes second place in the voting. It makes sense looking at his performance. In the heart of midfield, the former Monaco man won a game-high nine balls, intercepted, tackled and got forward. From a passage of play where he decided to follow the action, he picked up possession on the edge of the box ad fired home, left-footed, the winning goal. It was his first Ligue 1 goal with his first shot on target.

And finally, the captain completed the top three, after opening the scoring on Saturday night with a powerful header (27'). Stepping forward to try and make the breakthrough, the Brazil international led by example. Whether it is in attack, with his second goal of the campaign, or in defence where he toiled all night with the dangerous Kolo Muani, Dante was everywhere and finished with a match-high 145 possessions in the 90 minutes.
