Nice vs PSG will be played behind closed doors

OGC Nice regrets to inform its public that this Sunday's match against Paris Saint-Germain (kick-off at 13:00 CET) will be played behind closed doors, due to the sanitary measures announced on Friday morning. "It's a real blow for the fans," declared Jean-Pierre Rivère.

All major events organised in Nice will only be able to bring together a maximum of 1,000 people.  The announcement was made on Friday morning during a press conference held by Prefect Bernard Gonzalez and Christian Estrosi. The day before, the Minister of Health had explained that Nice and Lyon were among the territories where the COVID-19 situation had deteriorated the most and that new measures would be taken before the weekend.

"Health is the absolute priority. We can only accept this decision, and respect it," said Jean-Pierre Rivère. "Nevertheless, morally, it is a real blow. With regard to our supporters, it was already complicated to be limited to 5,000 people. Today, it's 1,000. Once you take away the organisation, you are practically at 1,000 people anyway. This means that the match will be played without any fans. We are sad. Football without supporters is not the same thing. We keep saying that. Thousands of season ticket holders imagined that they will finally be able to return to the stadium. And two days before the match, they learn that it won't be the case. Even if we had nothing to do with it, there is nothing worse than an about-face like that. Unfortunately we don't have any choice."

SEASON TICKET INFORMATION

As a result, all the tickets for this match are invalid. The match will not be deducted from the season-ticket for those who obtained tickets this way. A credit note will be given to those that purchased tickets.
The club will communicate later concerning the next match against FC Nantes (3 October), depending on the evolution of the sanitary conditions. The club would like to thank all its season ticket holders and supporters for their understanding of this situation which sadly imposes itself on all of us.
