Schneiderlin opens up ahead of the ligue 1 season

On the eve of the 2020-21 Ligue 1 season (Nice vs Lens kicks off at 17:00 on Sunday), Morgan Schneiderlin spoke to the official site of the LFP.

The France international midfielder signed from Everton in July spoke about his impressions of returning to the French top flight, 12 years after packing his bags for the Premier League. “I hope to show what I can do after a career in England for which I’m very proud, even if I have a few regrets about my time with Manchester United where I was too impatient. A new chapter starts for me now. I have a lot of objectives, both individually and for the team. I’m not saying we will compete with PSG for the title, but we want to progress and go as high as possible.

Les Aiglons’ No.6 speaks about why he chose to join Le Gym, the Anglo-Saxon mentality, the lockdown and his return from a meniscus injury: “I’m feeling better and better. We have worked very intelligently with a specially adapted pre-season, playing and more and more with the friendly matches. As soon as contact was made with Nice, I followed Youcef Atal’s comeback on social media, after he underwent an operation for the same injury, to see what was in store for me. The long preseason was anything but a holiday. France has a reputation for being a bit lazy… but I think this preseason was the hardest of my career alongside the ones with Mauricio Pochettino. I took his motto for me: ‘You have to cry all week to laugh on the weekend.’”
