Public health: President Rivère's update

With OGC Nice preparing to get back into Ligue 1 action on the weekend of 23 August, here's some important information for fans.

Present at Thursday's unveiling of Rony Lopes, Jean-Pierre Rivère announced that due "to a difficult public health situation and the lengthy protocol to be followed" the last pre-season game — against Rennes on 15 August — will be played behind closed doors. The Allianz Riviera will welcome back fans for the Ligue 1 debut against Lens.

How many spectators are allowed?

The ceiling is fixed at 5000 people for professional leagues nationwide. However, in Nice, a municipal decision has limited that number to 2500. "For the Lens match, we still have a step to take before reaching the national limit," explained President Rivère. "At the same time, we're talking to the authorities in the hope the limit could potentially be higher for this match and those after it, if the public health situation allows. We have several scenarios and we'll adapt to what is current at the time."

Season-ticket holder priority

Until the public health situation clears up, places in the Allianz Riviera are for season-ticket holders and are distributed chronologically. For example, if the authorised limit is 5000 fans, other than the 1000 people working on matchday (staff of the two clubs, security, media etc.), the first 4000 season-tickt holders will be chosen.

Before each game, the season-ticket holder will receive an email to confirm their attendance, which they must do before the deadline. If they can't come to the Allianz Riviera, their place will be redistributed.

Season-ticket holders will only pay for games that the public health situation allows them to attend.

In light of his unprecedented situation, OGC Nice counts on the good will and understanding of its fans. The Club would like to assure them that it will do all it can, within public health protocols, to enable them to support their team in the very best possible conditions.
