J.P. Rivère: 'Very happy to be back in europe'

Following Paris Saint-Germain's Coupe de France final win over Saint-Etienne (1-0) on Friday, OGC Nice — 5th in Ligue 1 last season — have qualified for the 2020/21 Europa League group stage. Jean-Pierre told us by phone of his delight at the news.

"We're very happy to play the Europa League," the president explained. "It'll allow our young players to gain additional experience."

Jean-Pierre Rivère also underlined how qualifying for Europe would not radically alter the club's well-laid plans. "It's not going to change our transfer window. We had prepared it without the Europa League, we're not going to abandon our plans. But what is certain is that we're going to do everything to give a good account of ourselves in this great competition."

He concluded by looking forward: "I watched the game calmly, because its outcome was not in our hands. But once again, this evening, we're happy. We also spare a thought for our fans, who pushed us all season long. This qualification also belongs to them, and I hope that everything will fall into place so they can fully enjoy it."
