Welcome Hassane Kamara!

Le Gym are pleased to announce that their search for a left-back has culminated in the signing of 26-year-old Hassane Kamara. OGC Nice and Stade de Reims agreed terms for his transfer on Thursday.

Quick, strong and disciplined, Hassane enjoyed an excellent 2019-20 season with Reims. Named left-back in the 2019-20 Ligue 1 Team of the Year by L’Equipe, the left-footer was a model of consistency in the best defence in the championship. Before the season was stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic in March, he had played 28 matches (23 in L1) and scored two goals, against Paris and Monaco.

Born in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis, Hassane joined the Toulouse youth academy as a midfielder, before switching to Châteauroux, with whom he made his professional debut in Ligue 2 in 2013-14. He joined Reims in the summer of 2015, and after being loaned to Créteil (in the National third division) in the second half of the 2016-17 season, he made a place for himself on the left side of defence with the Champagne outfit, winning the Ligue 2 title in 2018 before two excellent seasons in the top flight under David Guion.

Despite a number of suitors, Kamara (74 matches with SDR) was opted for the Rouge et Noir project. The Club wishes him a warm welcome!
