Wagué: "I made the right choice!"

On Monday, Moussa Wagué was presented to the media alongside chairman Jean-Pierre Rivère and coach Patrick Vieira. Check out what the FC Barcelona full-back, on loan to Nice, had to say.

Moussa, how did your loan deal come about?

The transfer went very well. I’m very happy to be here in Nice. Julien (Fournier, director of football) spoke to me about the club’s project. I also spoke with the coach. This is the right project for me. I had other opportunities, but I chose Nice because it’s an historic and ambitious club. The squad is very young and they will help me settle in. I really want to continue to grow here. I made the right choice.

What sort of player are you?

I am an attacking right full-back. I feel very comfortable with the coach’s tactics. That’s why I chose Nice. I am very happy to be here, I feel good. Now it’s up to me to prove that I can play here. My goals? Continue my progression with the club and play a lot because it’s important for a young player like me. I am always looking to improve, to work on my weaknesses and get better.

How do you feel, physically?

When you are a professional footballer, you have to be ready to play. I am. If the coach chooses my, I will accept the challenge.

Barça?

You train with great players and you make the most of that to learn a bit more every day. It was a very important step in my career. I wanted to play for them, but competition is fierce. I didn’t get much playing time, but I have no regrets.

What do you know about Le Gym?

Balotelli played here. I also know Dante. And of course, there was Racine Coly, who is a friend of mine and told me a lot about the club. He told me it was very easy to work well here, that everyone is very nice. And it’s true! I was warmly welcomed by the coaching staff, the board, the team… Yesterday, against Lyon, the supporters chanted my name when I came on and that gave me a lot of energy. It has been very positive and I thank the supporters and my teammates.
