Moussa Wagué joins OGC Nice

The Senegalese international full-back signs for Le Gym on loan (with an option to buy) from Barça until the end of the season.

Born on 4 October 1998 in Bignona, in the south of Senegal, Moussa Wagué came through the ranks at the Aspire Academy. Scouted by KAS Eupen, the right back headed to Europe in 2017. The Senegalese defender played 43 times in all competitions (one goal, four assists) for the Belgian club, who ply their trade in the Jupiler Pro League (Belgian first division).

His performances impressed the senior staff at Barcelona, who purchased him during the summer of 2018. After starting off with the reserves at Barça (20 appearances in the
Seconda B, the Spanish second division), he was called up on three occasions by Ernesto Valverde, the then first team coach. He officially joined the senior squad in summer 2019. During the first part of the season, he played in another three matches (two in the Champions League, one in La Liga).

At 21 years old, Wagué also boasts 14 caps for the Senegalese national side (one goal), with whom he played in the World Cup in 2018, before reaching the final of the ACN the following summer (defeat against Atal, Boudaoui and Ounas’ Algeria).

Welcome to Nice, Moussa!
