Squad

One old, one new, for Red Star

Here is Patrick Vieira’s squad for the Coupe de France Rd-32 clash at home to Red Star, this Saturday at 13:00 at Allianz Riviera.

His last appearance came way back on 26 October and the 1-0 loss away to Strasbourg, but Andy Pelmard has been named in the squad for tomorrow’s game. Having fully recovered from his twisted ankle the 19-year-old defender (8 starts this term) returned to full training with the squad this week.

Three youngsters from the academy are also in the squad: Balthazar Pierret, Evann Guessand and Theo Pionnier. Unlike his two teammates – Pierret was on the team sheet for last weekend’s L1 1-1 draw against Angers & Guessand came off the bench in the 2-0 Coupe de France win over Fréjus Saint-Raphael – 17-year-old Pionnier has been called up to the pros for the first time. A member of the club’s U19 side, the young central defender recently turned out for the reserves. After the match against Red Star, he will head straight to Clairefontaine for his first training camp with the France U18 squad.

Pierre Lees-Melou is suspended for the match, while several defenders are also absent.
