Nice 3-0 Toulouse

Cyprien: “It’s taking shape”

Wylan Cyprien gave his thoughts on Les Aiglons’ convincing victory over Toulouse on Saturday evening (3-0) and spoke about his team’s game plan: “We wanted to bring lots of intensity and agression to our game in the first quarter of an hour and to pressure them high up the pitch. We succeeded in doing so and we, once again, unlocked the situation using one of our key strengths this season, a set piece. We then quickly put ourselves beyond sight.” The midfielder accepted, however, that it was a more difficult second half for Le Gym: “We struggled a bit after the break, there was a bit of stepping off of the accelerator due to the score but we were able to lift our heads and retake control of the match.”

Cyprien was delighted by the attacking performances that his side have put in over recent weeks: “It’s getting better and better, and that’s to be expected. We had lots of new players at the start of the season and with Kasper (Dolberg), there was also the language barrier. It’s taking shape and it will get even better as the matches go by.

The end of the first half of the season gave the former Lens midfielder the opportunity to give his thoughts on the first half of Le Gym’s season: “We are in tenth place at the winter break, it’s average and we could have done a lot better given what we have shown at home.” Before turning his attention to the second half of the season: We will learn lessons from the first half of this season, rest up and come back with better intentions away from home. We showed this evening that we wanted to do well and we need to continue that after the holidays."
