Nice 3-0 Toulouse

A 3-0 to put under the tree

OGC Nice continued their excellent form at home as they dominated Toulouse (3-0). In doing so, Le Gym made it to a run of three matches unbeaten for the first time this season and brought the year to a close in the best way possible.

Boosted by the point that they picked up against Brest last weekend (0-0), their first point away from home since 1 September, OGC Nice got hold of the game quickly and turned the match in their favour against the side that currently sit bottom of the league table.

Under the heavy rain, Les Aiglons took control of the game after a few minutes in which they had found their feet and then hit Reynet’s goal with a barrage of attacks. A start to the match that was full of desire and Coach Vieira’s side were then deservedly rewarded thanks to a header from Sarr at the back post, after Cyprien’s corner had been flicked on (1-0 16’). Not content with just a goal lead, the Niçois continued their domination of the match and found the back of the net for the second time just three minutes later through Boudaoui (2-0, 19’). The Algerian started the game with plenty of motivation and picked up his first goal for Le Gym after a smart ball into the box from Lees-Melou.

Having quickly taken the lead, then getting a second and remaining solid in defence, Patrick Vieira’s side set themselves up perfectly to go on to achieve another win at home.

The early double substitution by the Toulouse coach (38’) didn’t pay off and Lees-Melou even extended the lead further. With a beautiful curled effort, that is now becoming his trade mark, the midfielder found the back of Reynet’s net (3-0, 40’).

After the break, Les Aiglons continued to create opportunities to make things worse for the visitors. Albeit, they were less decisive and made several mistakes with their final pass, while Toulouse still struggled to threaten the Red and Black defence.

Le Gym secured a second consecutive home victory by a three goal advantage, after their last time out against Metz (4-1), and therefore find themselves in 10th place, just two points off of fifth place after the first half of the season.
