Coupe de France

Round of 64: Fréjus St Raphael - Nice!

Assigned to Group A for the draw, OGC Nice quickly discovered their opponent for the Round of 64 of the Coupe de France on Monday evening.

Le Gym will begin their competitive football in 2020 with a derby away from home against Etoile FC Fréjus Saint-Raphaël (N2).

The match will take place on 4th or 5th January.

In their previous rounds, Les Varois eliminated Mouans Sartoux (R2), Villefranche St Jean-Beaulieu (N3), Saint-Mandrier (D1), Grenoble (L2) and Alès (N3) last Saturday thanks to a penalty shoot-out win.

The club have history in the competition and had an excellent cup run in 2016/17 getting to the quarter finals (0-1 defeat in Cannes against Guingamp).

Three-times winner of the cup (1952, 1954 and 1997), OGC Nice are on a run of five defeats in five in the Round of 64, with losses against Toulouse (2018 and 2019), Lorient (2017), Rennes (2016) and Valenciennes (2015).

Les Aiglons hadn’t been drawn against an amateur club since the 2011/12 season, when they qualified against AS Marck, who were then in CFA2 (0-2 in the Round of 64).
