Nice 4-1 Metz

Le Gym back to winning ways (4-1)

The heavy defeat at Saint-Etienne on Wednesday (4-1) saw Les Aiglons take a step back after the progress they had made against Angers in their previous match (3-1). On Saturday evening, they put themselves back on the right track with a convincing victory over Metz (4-1).

As he did against Reims, Wylan Cyprien showed his teammates the way. Firstly, when he buried an excellent curled effort into the back of the net, following Adam Ounas lay-off (1-0, 9’). And then with a cheeky Panenka from the penalty spot after the Algerian number 10 was brought down in the box (2-0, 41’).

Les Rouge et Noir made the task a little easier for themselves by converting the majority of their chances. Claude-Maurice could have put the victory beyond doubt in the first half after Burner crossed into the box.

Despite losing Atal (who came off injured in the 29th minute), Coach Vieira’s side stuck to their plan and remained true to their philosophy until the very end. The home side hurt the visitors even further before the hour mark thanks to Ganago. The Cameroonian forward was found by Lees-Melou at the back post and he tapped home with his knee to extend their lead (3-0, 59’).

Les Aiglons were pegged back by a goal from Niane (74e), but Pierre Lees-Melou was determined to reestablish the three goal-lead and beautifully curled the ball into the back of the net, completing the largest victory of the season so far (4-1, 75’).
