Post-match Nice 3-1 Angers

Lees-Melou : “I knew that Myziane was in behind me...”

Involved in everything that was good about Le Gym, Pierre Lees-Melou put in an excellent performance against SCO on Saturday. After the final whistle, the midfielder provided his thoughts after his side’s victory (3-1) “which did everyone a lot of good“.

“We knew what was at stake in this match”, explained the number 8: We knew that we weren’t where we should be, and that our performances weren’t good enough, like our performance in the first half against Lyon (2-1 defeat). We wanted to show a reaction at home, and we did so.”

It was, however, Les Angevins who opened the scoring. A goal scored by Fulgini (22'), which, shook les Aiglons. “We said to ourselves that we needed to wake up immediately to avoid going under. And so the goal from Arnaud really helped us before the break”, detailed PLM, who assisted Myziane in scoring his first goal in L1 for Nice, with an excellent back heel (53').

“I knew that he was behind me throughout the match, delighted the man who succeeded with 91% of his passes. I knew that he was going to be better placed than me, so I played him in. And I didn’t miss! I am very happy for him, as he hasn’t had much game time. He brought a lot to the team, on top of his goal and assist. I am really happy to have picked up an assist, but even more so doing it for him. We are going to need everybody in the squad, especially because we are going to be playing match after match.”
