Before Strasbourg - Nice

Ganago: “Have more presence in attack”

OGC Nice travel to the Meinau on Saturday to face RC Strasbourg (Matchday 11 of L1, kick-off at 8pm). Before heading to Alsace, Ignatius Ganago discussed what’s at stake in this encounter.

Ignatius, what are the lessons that you have learned from your last match against Paris (1-4) ?

We need to be more aggressive in defence, but also in attack. We also need to have more presence in the opponent’s box in order to score goals. That’s what was missing against PSG.

What is the objective tomorrow evening?

We’ve lost both of our last two matches (1-0 at Nantes; 1-4 against Paris). We will need to get the win against Strasbourg. The league table (last place with 9 points) doesn’t reflect the quality of this team. We know their strengths but we are prepared to face them. We are going there to get the three points.

“I can still do a lot better”

On a personal level, what do you make of your start to the season?

For the time being, it’s not too bad, but I can still do a lot better. I will continue to work because I want to score goals and above all to help my team to win matches. I want to play as much as possible because I have had lots of injuries in the past. This year, I am able to play matches one after the other, the main thing is to play*.

*Ganago has been involved in the first ten league matches this season (four starts), and has scored two goals.
