CRÉDIT AGRICOLE AIGLON OF THE MATCH

Keylor Navas: “Benitez is a top keeper”

Walter Benitez was voted Crédit Agricole Aiglon of the Match with 53% of your votes for his performance against Paris SG (1-4 defeat).

Already named Man of the Match in Les Aiglons’ last outing (Matchday 9, Nantes 1-0 Nice), Walter Benitez once again looked impressive on his line in his 8th start in ten games. The Argentinian stopper made six saves, including a triple save in the third minute of the game to deny efforts from Kimpembe, Diallo and Choupo Moting.

He was, unfortunately, unable to do anything to deny two strokes of genius from Di Maria (15', 21'), before conceding on two occasions in the second half (88', 90+1') after the referee had already killed off any suspense (red cards for Cyprien and Hérelle in the 75th minute).

Compliments from Keylor Navas

Before returning to the capital, Keylor Navas, the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper, had some nice words to send to his Nice counterpart. “Benitez is a top keeper, declared the man who played in goal for Real Madrid for five year. He showed it today (Friday) with an excellent performance. You can see that his teammates have confidence in him, and for a goalkeeper, that is important. The Niçois can be sure of one thing: they have a top goalkeeper.”

ACM getting in gear

Alexis Claude-Maurice (six appearances, four starts in 2019-20) finished in second place with 29% of your votes. On the left wing or in the middle of the park, the former Lorient man added impact to the Nice team, particularly when he played Danilo in behind the Paris defence (45') or even as he beat Kimpembe in the danger zone... before seeing his effort blocked by Meunier (72'). He equally won 67% of his duels.

And that makes two for Ganagoal

Finally, Ignatius Ganago (10 appearances, four starts in 2019-20) takes third place on the podium, with 18% of the vote. The man who scored against Nîmes (Matchday 2, 1-2 victory), scored his second goal of the season.  “Ganagoal” now takes his goal tally for the Rouge et Noir against the club from the capital to two (Paris 1-1 Nicein May 2019).
