The Job Forum, a springboard for everyone

In 2014, OGC Nice organised its first ever Job Forum in the heart of the Allianz Riviera. An event that has become unmissable for job seekers given that 710 people found a role during the last edition of the event back in March. A record!

The classified ads led them to the Allianz Riviera on 28 March 2019, whether they were published on the official OGC Nice website, Facebook or even Pôle Emploi (the Job Centre). Léa, Sarah, Alexandra and Thibault were looking for work for between four and eight months and hoped “to find a chance to bounce back” at the Job Forum, as explained by Sarah.

They turned up with CVs and cover letters in hand, to meet with the companies that interested them: sales for Alexandra, home help for Sarah, foreign languages for Léa and IT for Thibault. The candidates spoke with several recruiters in a sort of mini-interview, and each of the recruiters presented the values and principles of their company.

Their experience of the Forum

For Alexandra, everything happened very quickly. The loyal Gym supporter was called back the day after the Forum with a view to organising an interview at the offices of Leroy Merlin, and then signed a temporary contract as a Sales Assistant on 2 April, just five days after the initial contact! “Two other companies contacted me in the days that followed, but it was already too late” explained the surprised season ticket holder in the Populaire Sud, who hopes that her contract will be extended before the end of the year.

Sarah completely switched paths to focus on health insurance. She was hired as a salesperson on a permanent contract with a three month probation period, just one week after her first interview. She was sent on a training course when she arrived at Santiane, which gave her the possibility of a promotion after only 10 months in the role. Sarah then moved towards management, “a sector that is of particular interest to her”,  and she now works as a Client Service Executive, “a move that [has allowed her] to discover something new”.

As for Thibault, he was interested in a Web Developper role with Santiane. The man with a passion for IT was called back a month and a half later, after submitting his application and demonstrating his motivation to the recruiters. His profile was a match for a permanent role with a four month probation period, which “will come to an end at the end of November.”

Léa, between her degree in foreign langages and student jobs, had applied for a job with Samsic and already had a job interview scheduled for the day of the Forum. As “everything went so well”, the unconditional OGC Nice fan will join the security team at Nice airport in November, “in the first instance on a six month temporary contract, followed by an exam to secure a CDI”, she explained.

The message of encouragement

These four examples show that you mustn’t “give up or lose hope because an opportunity can arise at any moment, insisted Thibault on the phone. I didn’t expect a positive response but I am proof that opportunities do present themselves.

Sarah also added that job seekers mustn’t “limit themselves to one unique sector of activity”. The main thing “is to stay motivated and to give your all because things can move very quickly” added Alexandra.

It’s really good that OGC Nice organise this kind of event, it demonstrates its family focus, with contact with the people, recognised Léa. The club must continue with this kind of activity because it works very well.” And it’s for that reason that Le Gym invites you to the 6th Edition of the Job Forum in Spring 2020!

The summary of the 5th Edition

Virginie Rossetti, Communication and Brand Director:

”Of course we would like not to have to organise this kind of event, because that would mean that nobody is facing unemployment. We are happy to note that we have been of use to so many people, which is one of the main vocations of the club.

With 700 people returning to work last year and more than 2,500 over the five years, this is the proof that the community efforts that the Club makes are engraved in our DNA now more than ever.

This new record can only encourage us to continue and increase our efforts even further. That’s why the 6th Edition of the Forum is scheduled for Spring 2020.”
