Dante: “This is what happens when I let my passion take over me”

Dante, Les Aiglons’ captain and the winning goalscorer spoke to beIN SPORTS after the full time whistle, just minutes after the victory that he secured in the final minute of added time against Amiens (2-1).

Dante, can you describe that goal celebration?

I was very happy, very emotional. We came into this game on the back of a pretty difficult period given our final friendlies, but the team worked a lot. We needed to get the three points in this match. I was so delighted, that’s what football is about: joy, motivation, passion. And this is what happens when I let my passion take over me! (Laughs)

You had a very good first half but then you eased off, which helped Amiens...

Despite the youthfulness of the team, we need to continue to be demanding in our football. We need to be fully concentrated in every pass, in every move, in every run. We were leading 1-0 with an extra man, we can’t allow ourselves to concede this goal. It was a huge error that we will need to correct. We are lucky that we scored the second goal. This evening, we learn lessons, as we always do, but we were brave and we had the desire to go out and get the second goal. It just goes to show, you can never give up and have to battle until the very end!
