Youcef Atal’s performances in his first season in Ligue 1 have not gone unnoticed. The pacy Algerian defender has been selected in L’Equipe’s Team of the Season.

Playing at right back, the Nice gem - who often played slightly further forward towards the end of the season - picked up the best average score from the daily sports newspaper for that position (5.75).

Aside from Atal (10th), another Aiglon appears in L'Equipe’s Top 20: Dante (5.5, 20th). Walter Benitez is the second best goalkeeper in the rankings. With an average mark of 5.94, the Nice keeper is only beaten by the brilliant Lille stopper Mike Maignan (6.16).
