On Thursday afternoon and two days after officially starting his role, Gilles Grimandi, OGC Nice’s new Technical Ditector was presented to the press by the club’s President, Gauthier Ganaye.

Three hats. Firstly in charge of the performance of the first team, the sporting policy for the academy and finally, leading the recruitment of both youngsters and pros. These are the roles that Gilles Grimandi will now lead at Le Gym, as Gauthier Ganaye explained during the press conference.

“We identified straight away a need to have someone in charge of this large role”, underlined the OGC Nice President. Before adding that “we are all aware of Gilles (Grimandi) in this industry. His achievements need no introduction,” referring to the years he spent at Arsenal.

Over and above the sporting aspect, Gauthier Ganaye also spoke of the human interaction: “We share a bit more than just our initials. We share values. We are both passionate and extremely hard working. We matched on a human level.”  

With the arrival of Gilles Grimandi and Matthieu Louis-Jean, the new Head of  Recruitment, the President delighted as the new sporting organisation of the club has now taken shape: “We are looking to the long term, that’s why we took our time with these decisions. We needed to decide on the way we wanted to work together and we are now all happy with the plan as it is.”
