The figure of the day

104 shots, 1 goal

After struggling at the Allianz Riviera at the start of the season, OGC Nice have turned things around at home since the autumn. A quick look at the statistics allows you to analyse this theory. Beaten on four of their first five games at home (by Reims, Dijon, Paris and Marseille), the Aiglons have not lost on their own soil since their first game against Les Phocéens (Week 10, 0-1). In fact, they are currently only a run of six wins and two draws in the Plaine du Var, with only Paris currently on a better home run (14).

This change of form can be explained - in part - by the strength of the Red and Black defence, given that the Aiglons have kept seven clean sheets in their last eight outings at home. A strength that is incarnated by one member of the squad: Walter Benitez. In excellent form, the keeper has only conceded one goal from the 104 shots he has faced since the start of this positive run. The Argentine has, in fact, saved 33 of the 35 shots on target in Nice, conceding one and saving a shot that was deflected by Hérelle against Lyon.
