Chien Lee: “To take the club forward”

On Friday, Chien Lee was alongside Gauthier Ganaye in front of the press, after presenting the Aiglons’ new President to the employees of the club. When speaking to the press, the President of the OGC Nice Supervisory Council also answered questions about recent developments. Verbatim.

The nomination of Gauthier Ganaye

“We will get started with a new President and we have every confidence in him. Gauthier was the first Frenchman to lead an English club and the youngest President of an English club. He has done some excellent work. We are very happy to welcome him here.”

The takeover bids?

“We are here to take the club forward from season to season. We are here for the long-term.”

The transfer window

“Everybody knows that the winter transfer window is always very short and very complicated. We had an unexpected change of leadership. In the last couple of days, we have spoken with the coach, we had a couple of targets and a few opportunities. But these targets weren’t “right” to take the team forward. We will continue to work for this summer.”

The ambitions

“OGC Nice is a magnificent club, which has foundations, a DNA, an identity. All of that will be kept to move the club forward, which is our only objective. We will do our best to look above us and to aim for Europe. We can’t guarantee European qualification every season, but we will try to put all of our resources into the club in order to get there, focusing particularly on younger players.”

Coach Vieira

“Coach Patrick is part of the family. I speak with him every day. He is very professional and very important for the club. There are no doubts about this, we will continue to work together to move the club forward.”

The accounts

“I can guarantee you that every penny earned, especially in terms of sales, has been reinvested in the club. In the last three years, we have invested record sums in the transfer market: 14 million, 21 million and 27 million Euros. Each year, it’s increasing.”

The identity

“Thank you to the city and to the fans. Nice is magnificent, its evolution is very good, we benefit from an exceptional infrastructure. The club and the supporters are part of the identity and heritage of this city. To go even further, we all need to work together hand in hand.”
