Vieira: “My responsibility to find solutions”

When speaking to the press, Aiglons’ coach, Patrick Vieira once again focussed on the attacking limitations of his side as they were knocked out by Guingamp in the Coupe de la Ligue (0-0, 1-3 on penalties).

Patrick, how would you analyse this match?

For us, it’s a huge source of disappointment because there was scope to qualify. Unfortunately, we have been knocked out. Once again in attack, we were average. In terms of chances, there were very few very interesting moments and we weren’t able to score during our stronger moments. Bit by bit, we gave them confidence. It was more complicated in the second half. We weren’t good with our finishing or in the final pass.

You tried Saint-Maximin through the middle. What did you make of him?

Very interesting. In terms of his qualities, he can play on the wing, but also through the middle. He made runs into space, we managed to find him, he was dangerous but lacked that goal in the first half.

It has now been four matches that your side has been unable to score in open play, with just a penalty against Saint-Etienne…

It’s my responsibility to find solutions.
