Cyprien: “Really frustrated”

After scoring and having played a full match, Wylan Cyprien was in a state of sobriety as he analysed the match between Nice and St-Etienne (1-1).

Wylan, how would you analyse this evening’s game?

We will hold onto the positives, we came back from a losing position. We were down to 10 men, they were too, we pushed. We won a penalty thanks to a very good performance from Allan this evening, as he looked to break the lines and was able to create chances. But we weren’t able to kill off the match, especially at the end with Pierre’s chance, although there were others before that. We will need to get back to work quickly. We welcome Guingamp on Wednesday and then have a trip to Strasbourg. We need to get the full points between now and the winter break, so that we can make the most of the holiday season.

The Gym struggled once more in front of goal...

What you see, I also see it on the pitch. I am not a magician, but the chances that we have, we aren’t missing them deliberately. I am the first to want to score, to win matches and take all three points. We discuss these things as a squad, but there are periods like this, you have to remain together. Ganago was showing for us, he put in a lot of effort, but didn’t get that luck, especially from Atal’s cross. With the accumulation of matches, and we hope, with Mario getting back into form, things will get better. But once again, the style and content were more than coherent, with plenty of chances. This evening we are really frustrated, there is disappointment, but we will work to get better.

Now, the focus turns to the cup.

We will do all that we can to get through this round, because we know that if we do, the journey to the final is not that long. We need to do all we can to qualify. Playing at home is an advantage, but it’s not everything. We will prepare ourselves, recover well and give our all to get the qualification.
