Danilo is an Aiglon
Official! Brazilian midfielder Danilo Barbosa (22 years old, Braga) has signed for OGC Nice.
He is the first new face of the 2018-19 squad. Joining from Braga, Danilo is an Aiglon this morning, just one day after the transfer window opened. Loyal to its philosophy, OGC Nice targeted a youngster with great potential that the club had been following for several seasons.
A defensive midfielder who is capable of driving forward and a member of the Brazilian international youth set-up, Danilo (1m82) came through the ranks at Vasco de Gama and has already acquired, at just 22 years of age, a solid experience of European football.
He then signed for Braga and had a full season in 2014/2015 (28 matches, 2 goals and 2 assists), before being loaned to Valencia where he discovered La Liga, the Champions League and the Europa League (34 games, 3 goals).
He was then loaned to Benfica and then to Standard de Liège in 2016-17, he returned to Sporting Braga in summer 2017, and had a particularly successful season there. With 46 matches played (4 goals and 5 assists), he made the midfield position his own in a side that finished 4th in Liga Nos.
