Trophée Seguin

The OGC Nice community policy rewarded once again

On Wednesday evening, OGC Nice received the Trophée Seguin 2018 from FondAction du Football, which rewards the community policies of professional football clubs.

Three years after a a first award win obtained for its “En Route for Los Angeles 2015” project and the “Gym solidaire” programme, OGC Nice has once again been recognised on Wednesday for the “Children” aspect of its community programme, as they received the Trophée Philippe Séguin for a Professional Club from Fondaction du Football. Created thanks to the initiative of the former minister and first president of Fondaction, the operation looks to identify, support and add value to community initiatives put into place by amateur and professional football clubs and the players playing for them.

“A very important trophy”, according to President Rivère, “because it puts value and promotes all that is great in football. Professional clubs as well as the players do lots of things in the community, and it very often goes under the radar. It’s not just a trophy, it’s a way of encouraging clubs to always do more in this area. Because that is our role as a club.”

A commitment recognised for its real value by Patrick Braouezec, President of Fondaction du Football: “I want to congratulate Jean-Pierre Rivère and OGC Nice for this programme focussed on children, which the members of the jury were very touched by. Through school programmes or extra-curricular programmes or via the contribution made by players across the territory of the Ligue Méditerranée, or in the hospitals of the region, the involvement of OGC Nice in the lives of the younger generation is strong: we hope that with this recognition, this fantastic initiative will be a source of inspiration for many other clubs.”

Present alongside the President of OGC Nice during the trophy presentation on Wednesday evening at the Pavillon d'Armenonville, Virginie Rossetti (Communication and Brand Director, who leads the citizenship programmes for the club) underlined that one of the instructions from Jean-Pierre Rivère upon his arrival at the club was to “structure this engagement, to make it more efficient. This award which we have now won on two occasions in the last four years, shows the value of the commitment of the whole club. Because at OGC Nice, when a project is launched, it involves every component of the club: from the board (Président Rivère’s wife, being Présidente of the funds, is extremely engaged on this level), the sporting staff (first team and members of the academy included), former Aiglons, club employees, partners, supporters… When OGC Nice commits, it brings a positive reaction and everyone gets involved.”

To give greater depth to its engagement, the club launched an Endowment Fund at the start of this month, which is open for both individuals and companies.
