The 38th and final stage of the Ligue 1 season approaches for the Aiglons, who will face OL and its attacking armada on Saturday (at 9pm). Discover the key figures of this battle, which will decide the European futures of both sides. 

Lyon, full-out attack 

The 10th best defence in France, the Niçois will try to keep a clean sheet. But this promises to be a huge challenge. Firstly, because they have only managed this on two occasions in their last 27 trips to Lyon: 28 May 2005 (0-0) and 15 December 2007 (0-0). There is also the fact that OL boast an impressive strike force, with 84 goals in L1 this season (the best in its history). The Lyonnais have also scored during 23 of their last 24 outings in L1. The only exception? During their last home defeat, on 11 February (0-2 against Rennes).

The Gym score too

The Gym also boast an impressive record in front of goal. The side in 6th place in the league (51 points) have found the back of the net in their last 10 Ligue 1 games (19 goals), after having failed to score in two of the previous four. And they will be able to rely on the king of these “gala fixtures”: Mario Balotelli. The Italian, who has bagged his best career total this season (18 goals in the league) is the top scorer against the Top 4 (Paris, Lyon, Monaco, Marseille) in L1 2017/18 (6 goals).

1 threat, 4 faces

The Aiglons will need to watch Memphis Depay like milk on the hob. Author of a brace in the first game between the sides this season (0-5 defeat at the Allianz Riviera), the Dutch international has been involved in 14 goals during his last 8 matches in Ligue 1 (7 goals, 7 assists). They won’t be able to forget Nabil Fekir either, who has been involved in 3 goals in his last four matches in Ligue 1 (2 goals, 1 assist), nor can they neglect Mariano Diaz (18 goals in L1) or even Bertrand Traoré (13).

OL, master at home 

At home, only Paris and Monaco have picked up more points than Lyon this season (38). Bruno Génésio’s side have only lost two of their last 20 home games in Ligue 1 (12 wins, 6 draws) - on 29 November against Lille (1-2) and 11 February 2018 against Rennes (0-2). OL are on a run of five consecutive wins at home, the best current record in the top flight.
