Bauthéac: “Niçois one day...”

After two seasons in the North, Eric Bauthéac set sail to the Deep South last September. Direction Australia, and FC Brisbane Roar.

His season having come to a close with the quarter finals of the National Soccer League play-offs, the attacking midfielder returned to his home in Nice, above the Allianz Riviera. He also made the most of the time to discover the new home of OGC Nice and to visit his former club’s squad on Wednesday.  “I saw my name in the press conference room. It’s a nice touch, it’s cool, smiled "Ricou". It’s important to have this recognition by the club for its former players, because when you are Niçois for one day, you are a Niçois forever.”

“I would have spent my life on the bowls pitch”

From the terrace of the training pitch, the man who spent 3 seasons with OGC Nice (97 matches in L1 between 2012 and 2015, 21 goals, 13 assists) said: “I would have spent my life on the bowls pitch (laughs). It’s a superb tool. When you compare it to the old one, it’s night and day. You get the feeling that OGC Nice evolves. In my day, the club was only talking about growing. Today, it’s a big club.”

Come and meet him before Nice - Caen

I can’t wait to meet the Nice supporters, because I have remained on excellent terms with them, delighted Bauthéac, who will be honoured before the final home game of the season at the Allianz Riviera against Caen, on Saturday. Despite leaving for Lille then to Australia, I still get loads of messages of support from them. There are even some who have been to see me play in Australia! With the supporters, it always went well here. When I take to the pitch, I think they will sing my little song...

Before Nice - Caen, Eric Bauthéac will be...

7pm at the Café des Aiglons to meet with Nice supporters
8.45pm on the pitch of the Allianz Riviera to receive his Former Aiglon trophy.
