Marseille - Nice

Before the derby, the stats

Whilst you are waiting for kick-off on Sunday at 9.05pm, find out the stats behind the derby of the Mediterranean, between Marseille and Nice.

In-form Marseille...

OM are in excellent form at the Vélodrome, where they have only lost one of their last 14 Ligue 1 matches (9 wins, 4 draws). It was against Olympique Lyonnais, on 18 March (2-3). The Phocéens have, in fact, only lost 3 of their last 30 games in the league (18 wins, 9 draws), after having lost the two games before.

... the Gym too

OGC Nice have only lost one of its last 10 games in Ligue 1 (4 wins, 5 draws), against Paris (1-2) on 18 March. The Aiglons have also proved solid away from home: they have only lost two of their last 12 games away from home in Ligue 1 (4 wins, 6 draws), after having lost four of their first five this season (1 win)

On fire up-front!

Marseille have scored during 32 of their 35 Ligue 1 matches this season, only Paris (34) have found the back of the net on more occasions in the top flight. The Nice attack has equally performed well and have found the back of the net during their last eight games in Ligue 1 (14 goals), after having been goalless for the two previous games.

On Sunday, there is no doubt that the Red and Blacks will be wary of Florian Thauvin. The international has been involved 30 goals in Ligue 1 this season (20 goals, 10 assists), more than any other Frenchman in the Top 5 European divisions. He is the scorer of 4 of the last 7 Marseille goals in Ligue 1.

Up against them, the Gym will look to their two powerhouses: Alassane Plea, involved in 9 of the last 12 Nice goals in Ligue 1 (8 goals, 1 assist) and Mario Balotelli. The Gym’s top scorer (15 goals), the Italian has scored 4 goals against Marseille in Ligue 1 (in 3 matches), his record against Monaco is the only one which tops that in the top flight (6 goals in 4 matches)
