Biography

Versatile, capable of playing in central defense and in midfield, Youssouf Ndayishimiye signed for OGC Nice on January 25, 2023.

Ndayishimiye arrived in Nice from Istanbul, having played 74 games for Başakşehir. In his career, he has also worn the jersey of another member of the Turkish elite: Yeni Malatyaspor. Previously, the Bujumbura native played for Aigle Noir FC (Burundi).

An instant hit on his arrival, Youssouf immediately made an impression with his physical strength and ease on the ball. A cocktail that naturally established him as one of the leaders of the dressing room.

During the 2023-24 season, he shone during the first 6 months in a sentinel position, playing an essential role in the Gym's balance. Author of an extraordinary goal against Montpellier in the French Cup, “the Bujumbura Wall” was unfortunately hampered by injuries during the return phase.

Youssouf came back even stronger in 2024-25. Vice-captain of the group, he played 29 games and scored 3 goals, including 2 at crucial moments. At the height of the final sprint, he equalised in the last second of a vital match at Strasbourg (J29, 2-2). He then sealed Gym's victory in Paris with a sumptuous header (J31, 3-1). Unfortunately, the Burundian international suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in the aftermath of his trip to the Parc des Princes.
